"hard to push, not a lightweight stroller" 2010-04-05
By womyn_green (Maryland)
If you are looking for a lightweight stroller, definitely buy something else.

The Keekaroo is a full featured umbrella stroller. We are pretty happy with it because it has certain features I couldn't live without (basket, reclined seat). The reason I give it 3 stars is that with the baby in it, it gets hard to push (and no, there is nothing wrong with the wheels - the wheels are in perfect condition). Our son is only 8 months old, so I imagine by the time he is a toddler we might be too frustrated with pushing the keekaroo.

CONS:

It's heavy - about 15 lbs. You can easily put it in the trunk, but it would be a pain to collapse and lug through a restaurant.

Because it's heavy, it has a bit of a drag when you push it, especially with baby in it.

You have to crouch to open and close it. Makes me feel unsafe in a parking lot.

Harnass is REALLY CHEAP! It's only a three point harnass, and the material is so thin that it gets folded in half as it comes through the loops. It's quite bad.

PROS:

seat recline (about 30 degrees)

basket holds our large diaper bag (we have the Diaper Dude bag)- largest basket I've seen on an umbrella

the lower portion of the seat adjusts to our son's legs

great sunshade - the best I've seen on an umbrella, and you can unattach it and move it to match the sun's angle (although this makes it flop around and you have to adjust it every 5 minutes)

good looks - nice foam handles and good fabrics

BOTTOM LINE:

Not sure if I'd buy it again. It looks great, and I do like some of the extra features, but that push problem is a big issue for us. Our other stroller is a BOB so maybe I'm just used to their amazing (and expensive) construction (I can push it with one finger). I imagine the Keekaroo's push is quite comparable to a Gracco or other full sized, midprice stroller.

Hope this helps!

"Keekaroo wheels too far back" 2010-03-24

The stroller is lightweight and portable but as it is wheeled you end up stepping on the rear wheels. This jerks the baby and the stroller. A design flaw for sure.

I am so glad I read all the reviews before purchasing. I LOVE this stroller. I tried out a MacLaren at BRU and it is obvious people only buy them for the name.

This stroller is much more than just the umbrella stroller I was looking for. It's sturdy enough I would've used it as my main stroller when my baby was smaller.

The only flaw I can mention is that it doesn't just flop open. You can still manage to set it up with one hand{i.e. if you are holding baby with the other and don't HAVE two hands to set it up}, just not seamlessly.

I think this stroller is worth every penny and I would recommend it to anyone. I have three boys and have been through as many strollers. This one is the best yet!

 "Great Stroller, Great Price" 2010-02-23

I, too, purchased this stroller based solely on reviews from other customers here at Amazon. I am so glad that I took the plunge and ordered this stroller. The quality is top notch. This stroller is relatively lightweight, easy to unfold and fold, has a totally functional sun shade and a 5 point harness. I also love the extended seat that folds down as my baby grows. The handles are high so that my 6'4" husband will have no problems pushing this stroller comfortably.

"The Best Stroller Ever Made" 2010-02-18
By T. Parara (Bronx, NY)
I have had this stroller for about 2 months now and it is the best gift I've received for my son thus for. I did a lot of research on strollers before choosing this one. I looked at the I'coo Targo, a few Maclarens, Combi's, Chicco's and Pegs... nothing met my standards. I fell in love with this stroller at first sight and I am still in love with it. You will need to purchase a cup holder and rain cover, but for the price of the stroller, that shouldn't be a big issue. The Karoo is unique and it is a very high-end stroller. I only get the best things for my son. You wont see a lot of people pushing this stroller around, like you do with Maclaren's.
