I read the reviews on lots of different walkers and finally talked my husband into purchasing this expensive, high quality walker. My son is only 9 months old (and a month premature). He just started pulling up to stand and isn't really ready to use this as a walker, but I thought I could let him use it with my help. I was thinking that it would be nice to have something besides the coffee table or sofa (or me!) to pull up on. I must say he was excited the moment he saw it and immediately tried to pull up, which he was able to do by himself. He stood there holding on with the proudest smile on his face. (Photos above) But the next day he was standing and leaned to the side and it fell over, much to my surprise. So then I knew I needed to be ready to catch him if he leaned again. I still thought he was safe to pull up from behind, but the next time he tried he must have done something differently than before because it actually fell backwards. Now he doesn't want to use it and just wants to climb up on me because Mommy never falls over him. I have decided to not let him use this until he is really trying to walk, which of course is it's intended purpose. I should mention that my son is 22 lbs. and 29 inches long. I'm not sure if that is heavier than the other reviewers children? I will update this review when he is older, but it seems likely that it will still tip over if he isn't careful. I'm not sure that there is another walker that is more stable, so I might just have to put some weight in the storage compartment. I am still giving it 4 stars because it is well made. But I want to warn other parents to use this under very close supervision if your child is heavier or younger than recommended.

My daughter is 9 MO this Xmas and we wanted to get her something to inspire her latest attempts at walking. We had a walker that my son had used but we weren't thrilled with it-- and neither was he. It rarely got used. This walker was expensive, but since my daughter is the second child and has a lot of hand me down toys, we wanted to get her one or two quality things vs. lots of cheaper toys. This walker was worth every penny! I can't believe how stable it is! My daughter loves to pull herself up on it and take a few steps. My son likes to sit in the front and coax her along! He also likes to take a wagon for a spin when his sister isn't looking! Well made, solid, and beautiful! This toy will be in use for a long time!

Great walker. Wanted a simple walker that did not require batteries or had a bunch of activities on it. We already have plenty of toys, so we just needed something sturdy to teach our 11 months old how to walk. He loves the walker and climbs all over it every day. It is very sturdy, he can pull himself up on the handle from the floor without it tipping over. Unfortunately he climbs onto the seat standing up and holding on to the handle but hasn't fallen over as the walker is well balanced. The only slight drawback is that it doesn't turn easily so I have to supervise and help him when he reaches an obstacle. Some reviewers wrote that the wheels squeak, and they do a little. It comes from the friction of the axels on the wood, but nothing bad that would prevent me from buying again if faced with the choice.
The price is a little high compared to all the plastic varietys on the market, but the nice thing is that the walker can be used as a "wagon" long beyond him being able to walk. In fact our 4 year old is also loving it and pushing the little one around in it. Shipping was swift and the walker came fully assembled except the handle was folded forward for shipping so it had to be pushed back and top screw tightened. It took about 5 minutes (wich included getting the wrench). Ultimately I based my decision for buying the Haba walker over other wood products on my prior experiences with toys from this company. They are safe (paint, construction) and always very well made.

This walker is fantastic. My 10 month old son loves it and has really become more balanced and confient when he walks. He is just shy of 21 lbs. and the walker is heavy / sturdy enough for him to pull up on without tipping it over. Also, he loves to ride in the while I push him. The walker does have 4 bolts that would be considered choking hazards for a child of this age, but I usually check them about once a day so there is no problem. I would recommend this to any one who is looking for an alternative to toxic plastic toys.

I have 1 year old twins, and this is by far the best walker out there. They can both climb on it, push it, etc., without ever tipping it over. We have hardwood floors, so I can't speak to how it pushes on carpets. My kids love to push, and be pushed in it all the time. The cheaper plastic walkers were a hazard since they were constantly tipping them over and falling. After several weeks, using these all the time, we have yet to have them tip over. My kids are pretty rough and tumble, and they still manage to stay up right. Love these!
