"Great - when it works" 2010-03-12
By Keonna Reinholz (Falls Church, VA USA)
We are on our third "Soother"; each time the fish stopped swimming. It was NOT a battery issue. We always change the batteries first. It's not been all bad. The manufacturer "Kids II" has always been responsive and usually will send us a new unit. For us it's worth the effort because our baby loves the soother. Yes, it's annoying that they break; but the customer service is fantastic. I love that they stand behind their product. For those that say these are battery hogs - try rechargeables. We keep a supply of "C" and "AA" which are the most common for baby toys. Good luck!

 "works great!" 2010-03-12

I had to get a new soother when my hand-me-down Rainforest crib soother died. I tried this one and I'm glad I did.

Reasons:

1. No serious 'motor' noise (nothing my baby can't handle)

2. You can change the batteries without taking it off the bed. (HUGE selling point for me)

3. When she's older it will stand on it's own on a nightstand to provide a cord-free nightlight.

4. Has a nice 'crib check' feature

5. 25 minute play time w/gradual shut off.

 "Piece of crap!!!!!" 2010-01-20
By C. Falconio (Philadelphia, pa)
Baby Einstein s the worst musical soother that you could ever give to someone or buy for your child. I received 2 of these so called "soothers" and my daughter is only 6 months old. They don't sooth anyone or anything. The 1st one that I received as a shower gift only played the music but the fish didn't move. The 2nd one I received as a christmas present (09 mind you) and the light part that moves the fish crapped out, now it plays 1/4 of the song and shuts off. Forget the remote, that's a piece of crap too. I am very disappointed with Baby Einstein products. This product didn't even make 6 months, so you really don't get your money's worth. This product isn't the cheapest thing either. So, don't even think about getting this product for anyone that you know that is expecting. It will only make you look bad getting such a crappy toy!!!!!

 "Battery Hog" 2010-01-12
By CourtneyK (Texas)
We love this product when it works. My daughter is entranced by the swimming fish and loves to watch them move. It's a beautiful toy! However, this toy is about 6 months old now and it has started eating batteries (no extra usage from before!) like nobody's business. After maybe 3 or 4 cycles the fish STOP moving and it only lights up. It seems the problem is getting worse as the toy gets older. I contacted Kids II the company to ask for a new product because it is on a year limited warantee. I wish there was a comparable crib soother that had the scrolling fish because she loves it and like another reviewer--there is crisis in our house when the motion doesn't work.

Wish I could recommend it but it's a battery eater that gets WORSE as time goes on!

 "A lifesafer!" 2009-12-12

We got this product when my son was about 2 months old. I agree, it goes through batteries quickly. We ended up getting 8 rechargeable C batteries and a good charger. My son is 1 year old now, and we are still using the original rechargeable batteries (we rotate a set of 4 every week). My son loves his fish and it helps him fall asleep at night because it gives him something to watch as he is drifting off. I am currently pregnant again and will be purchasing a second soother for the new baby.
