"Good but could be better" 2010-03-26

Good shade but we have big back side windows in our Nissan Murano 09 so it doesn't always protect my son from annoying sunrays. We live in Florida and it's pretty sunny.

Putting it on a window was easy, was done by my husband and he didn't complain.

The only thing we don't like is that the window can't go down when shade is on it.

    By Mike Amazon
This sun shade has worked very well for us. We washed the window and applied it at 20 degrees F (i.e. cold) and it has stayed on for a month no problem. It does look rather cheap and didn't go on totally smooth and doesn't cover the entire window, but for the price I'm very pleased.

By M B Ohlson (Menlo Park, CA)
The shade was not the easiest to apply without lots of bubbles, but since it can be reapplied endlessly, it works fine if you have lots of time and patience. Also, since it is a generic rectangular shape, rather than being fitted for the shape of the car window, it didn't block the sun in certain areas. But, other than that, it did the trick.

I bought this since it was the #1 selling car shades, but after installing, I had immediate regrets. It clings well if you clean your window. It works to block out the sun. However, it looks so cheap, both from the inside and outside! It is literally just a piece of static cling. And I spent forever trying to get it flat, without bubbles on the windows so it looks good. Once these shades die, I will not buy them again.

 "Fits Joovy Kooper" 2010-02-13
By Sara Harpster
I was a little worried about my Joovy Kooper fitting, because although it's an "umbrella" stroller, it's a bit larger than most. No worries, though, the bag is roomy enough to fit the stroller - but I did have to remove the wheels to make it fit lengthwise (not an issue for me).

The material is sturdy, and not too difficult to fold up and stick in my stroller's basket. The handlebars are great, although I am afraid to carry it using the shoulder strap because the clips that attach to the bag look like cheap plastic that will snap from the weight of the Joovy Kooper (my stoller is heavier than most umbella stroller, so it might not be an issue if you have a lighter stroller). I just took the shoulder strap off and only use the handlebars.

One thing I was surprised by was the padding. I re-read the item description, and it says it has a padded end. I didn't notice it said that when I first ordered it. I assumed the entire bag was padded. It's not, just the flip top end of the strollerbag. It's good for those who have a stroller that has all it's wheels at one end when it's folded. The Joovy Kooper has wheels on both ends when it's folded. If your stroller folds down and has wheels on both ends, only the padded end will protect your wheels. You might want to take your wheels off and store them in the padded end. The padded end will do well protecting your wheels, but the rest of the bag isn't padded and your frame in the unpadded part can still get banged around. Although, if it was a fully padded bag, it probably wouldn't be as easy to fold up and store while not in use.

I do wish the zipper went down lengthwise instead of around the top. But I knew that when I ordered it. It would be just little easier for my heavier stroller to have the bag open the other way. If you have a standard umbrella, the opening shouldn't bother you.

One last thing, apparently it can look a little like a duffle bag, and if you are going to gatecheck your stroller at the airport, there's a small chance it will get mixed up with regular luggage and not be waiting for you when you exit the plane. I bought some red ducktape and put a strip on the bag, then wrote "gate check" in permanent marker on the ducktape. Not super pretty, but we use this primarily for airports, and it gets the attention of the airline employees.

Overall, it does it's job, and has held up well. Joovy makes a stroller bag specifically for the Kooper, but it's almost double the cost of this. I would choose this over the Joovy bag anyday. It's sturdy and perfect for the price!

"Not the best quality of parts..." 2010-01-22
By Blessed! (Los Angeles)
Shoulder strap on my bag broke after using the bag on its 3rd round trip. The strap broke at the plastic adjustable slide after placing over shoulder. I have read other complaints about the strap attachment hooks breaking as well but mine has given out at a different stress point. It appears the quality of the plastic is a tad cheap. Also the zipper can be an issue as it hangs when the two sides of the zipper aren't perfectly aligned when trying to close. I fear that the zipper may give out at some point and we'll no longer be able to close it.

 "Good Bag" 2010-01-21
By J. Gaines (CA, US)
I went back and forth for a few days as to whether or not I wanted to get this bag or the Maclaren bag. I decided to go with this bag first since it was cheaper and if I didn't like it I'd still have time to return it before my trip. This bag did just fine! I have a Maclaren Quest and it fit just fine, no wrestling it into the bag and it didn't have to go in a certain way (meaning the handles or wheels HAD to go on a certain end). There was extra room in there for me to put other items in the bag as well, such as extra packs of diapers and some other items I couldn't fit into my suitcase. The only thing I'd wish to be changed was that there be a little more padding throughout the bag and not just on one end. It did a good job though, my stroller came back to me without a scratch.

"tight fit lengthwise, but otherwise great" 2009-12-12
By Illinois mom (Illinois)
We have used this bag 3-4x/year for our Chicco umbrella stroller and it works like a charm. It is a bit of a tight fit lengthwise, as the other reviewers have commented, but you have plenty of room around the sides to put in extra stuff. It is well made and cushioned and the padding/zipper have held up over the course of the past 2 years. we're buying another one for our second kid

"There is no perfect double, but this is a good one!" 2010-03-19
By PghYinzer (Pittsburgh, PA United States)
With my twins, I have learned there is no perfect double. With my son, except for a brief stint trying to get in to jogging where I borrowed a friend's jogging stroller, I really got by with one stroller - the Graco Quattro. I will tell anyone, hands down, when you weigh the price to the versatility, that is the best stroller you can buy. I walked many, many, many miles with that thing, and lost lots of blubber in the process. Tons of storage, very sturdy, easy to throw to the ground and stash in the trunk. Loved it. That stroller is still going strong with my girls, because for the most part, I prefer to wear one on my back and push a single stroller.

But sometimes, it's nice to have a double. Sometimes you need to have a double (ie some museums don't let you wear a child on your back!). Unfortunately, different doubles work for different situations. Sometimes you need COMPACT - for that I have a Valco Runabout single with the toddler seat added on. Sometimes you want side-by-side - I haven't gotten one yet but once my girls are bigger might go for a BIG one, for walking for exercise. Sometimes you want full recline in both seats + lots of storage - for that I had an Inglesina Domino which I LOVED when the girls were smaller. And sometimes a reasonably priced tandem with tons of storage will suit your needs nicely.

Funny thing is there seems to be a status symbol to having a double stroller nowadays. People buy them, even when their kids are pretty far apart, and then sell them because the older kid won't ride any more. So you need to ask yourself, do you really NEED a double? For me, my son never rode in a stroller past 3 1/2 - so personally, I would say if your kids are going to be more than 2 1/2 - 3 years apart, don't get a double. Wear your baby in your front and use the single until your older child won't ride any more.

And if you DO need one, take advantage of all the people who bought them for their newborn and their three year old, and are selling them in great condition for CHEAP. That's what I did. Now here is what I like and don't like about this stroller.

Pros:

Both kids are reasonably comfortable and have some means of stashing snacks and sippy cups.

Storage basket is HUGE!

Stroller is STURDY. Compare it to the Duoglider and you can feel it is rock solid, no sway at all when you turn.

Steers well - for a double. I can steer with one hand, even, if one girl wants to walk and hold my hand.

Easy to throw to the ground and throw in your van. I don't know if it would fit in a car trunk, but I do know I don't find it heavy or hard to lift as some complain. It fits in the very back behind the 3rd row of my Toyota Sienna. Works for me. Now maybe I should say that I do remember trying to lift the single Quattro when my son was a baby seemed difficult at first, but 6 years of slinging kids and strollers around, and a little weight work besides (I'm talking 5 pound dumb bells, nothing major) have toughened me up.

Both kids get a sun shade.

Front seat back is higher than in the Duoglider, which is better for a growing child.

AFFORDABLE - especially if you find one used.

Resells very well - I have been trying to get a used one for a while and learned they go FAST.

You can put two baby buckets in it - but DON'T. It's pointless to haul this thing around just to put the buckets in - get a double snap n' go.

Cons:

Doesn't have the awesome parent console that the single has - which is in some ways a blessing as it means I can't accumulate as much stuff up there (and I am bad about accumulating stuff in my single!)

Does not work for newborn twins w/o buckets as the front seat does not recline enough - and I really don't like to have to use the buckets. It also means it's a little tougher to nap for the kid in front, but kids seem to nap in weird positions all the time.

Front seat back is higher than the Duoglider, which means the child in back can't see as well - I keep the sunshade off and in the basket to help with this some, but it's still not great. I have to put my littler one in the back because her sister attacks her if she is in front so it's really tough. Still, most tandems have a lousy view from the back. You just learn to park sideways if you want to stop and look at something. I think the rear seat is SLIGHTLY elevated, but not enough. Wish it was more so.

Front seat does not have a tray - I prefer a tray to those two cup things. You can use the bar instead, and give your child a snack trap - but I wish there was a tray.

Child in back can't climb in and out on own easily, if at all (mine haven't tried yet - it's not a huge deal, it's just an independance thing)

Seats can't be reconfigured, as with some other strollers - a nice option but not something you can't live without

All in all, when you look at the bang for your buck, it's a great stroller. Is it the perfect double? No - but such a beast does not exist, in my opinion. There's something wrong with all of them. For me, above all, the ease of throwing this thing to the ground and throwing it in my car makes up for any other shortcomings.

"Awful, you need to swing one baby sideways to fit in bucket seat" 2010-03-19
By C. Driscoll (Boston, MA)
This stroller is very difficult to manuever two bucket seats into - you need to swing one baby sideways and forward to get the bucket seat to fit into it and then you need to strap both seats down. It takes way to long to get kids into stroller, especially if you have older children. We returned it and got the 'Snap and Go' which is MUCH easier and light!

 "Great double stroller" 2010-03-15
By T. Kurszewski (WI)
Just purchased this stroller after much research and searching. I am using it for our almost 3 year old and 8 month old. We all love it! The youngest can be rather fussy at times (gastric reflux), but she traveled great in this for over 4 hours in a mall. I like the multiple positions of the rear seat, makes naptime very comfortable. The oldest likes to be able to get in and out by himself, the cupholders for juice and snacks, and the cubby below for his must have travel companians. We get compliments every time we take it out and I highly reccommend this stroller. Of course it is heavier and larger than a single stroller, it's made for two, but it handles nicely and is not much larger than our single stroller when collapsed. Overall, a great storller for two!

 "The "Whale"" 2010-03-15
By G. Pace (McKinney, TX)
My mother bought this as a gift for us since we are expecting our second. I was thrilled and viewed it as the "deluxe" stroller system. Well it arrived today, and now I feel bad that my mom spent $250 on it! I think the makers definately we not thinking of mothers being on their own while using this. It is soo heavy! Besides barely being able to pick it up, the wheel automatically lock when you fold it which provides no relieve in trying to put it in the trunk. Best part is, I really don't know what to do now because it won't even fit in our trunk!! We have a very large and spacious trunk in our car, so I do not know why the makers of this stroller did not even consider trunk issues (because regardless of if I have a spacious trunk) it is only fair to other parents that this stroller be capable of fitting a standard size trunk. This is definately NOT MOMMY OR CAR FRIENDLY!!

 "Great Double Stroller" 2010-03-13
By F. Yasin (Irvine, CA)
I was a little hesitant to purchase this stroller after reading several reviews saying that it was super bulky, difficult to manuever and very heavy. But I am so glad I purchased it! It is a great double stroller for two young children. My toddler loves the fact that he can get in and out of the front seat on his own and the fact that there is nothing in front of him makes him feel less contained. The rear seat full recline allows me to take my sleeping newborn and place him without his carseat. I know some moms really love keeping their newborn in the carseat but I just don't think it looks comfy.

Yes the stroller is bulky, but what do you expect when you need something strong enough to carry two of your babies safely.

 "wish we'd known..." 2010-02-20
By James R. Dolezal (nashville)
The shade would have been great had we known that it has no framework so it won't stay up on it's own. The manufacturer's title is misleading - this is not a shade as it does not provide shade in and of itself. It is really just a shade extender or a shade attachment. We took off our own shade because it was so flimsy (why else would we be buying this one?), and took this with us instead to Disney. As it turns out, this shade is useless without the existing shade - a very easy to overlook detail as it is not mentioned in the product details.

"Excellent for the money 4.5 star" 2009-09-10
By Bunson Honeydew (White Plains, NY)
My sister suggested this for our Britax Blink. Granted that stroller has a large sunshade, but we are very concerned about too much sun exposure.

What's great? It stores, fold, attached very easily. The material is so soft; my wife and I joked that it was like lingere. But seriously, it's a great thing to have if you are concerned about the sun.

What's so-so? It's not a tight fit with the straps, probably because it's a standard universal size and not a model specific one.

As far as the wind... unless it's actually part of the stroller, a heavy wind is going to do a number on a lot of things. Ever see an umbrella turn inside out or a hat blow off someone's head?

Update... September 22, 2009... My sister showed us how to fit it better. It looks great. Now if we could just figure out how to fold it into itself...

Blocks the sun well, stretchy so you can pull it way down if the sun is low. Fits well on my Graco stroller, just pull it forward enough so you can still see through the little plastic window. We live in a really windy city and it seemed flimsy but has been fine. It folds up nice and small; I can't imagine anything that would make it better.

By S. Krohn (Crofton, MD)
I received this from my mother-in-law (she bought every conceivable accessory for our stroller). At first I liked this because it gave me more storage and cup holders. The only function that I actually used was the cup holders, which don't work as well as a hard cup holder would. While I used this bag, it caused more frustration than anything. It was always getting in the way and I was having to fold it up so that I could see what I was doing when folding it. The final straw came 6 months after using it. We had been having issues getting the stroller unfolded and I was considering sending the whole stroller back. As a last attempt, I took the bag off, and miracle of miracles! The stroller folds up fine! In my opinion, don't waste your money, just buy a standard cup holder!

 "Doesn't hold drinks" 2009-06-13
By Cynthia A. Johnson (Tampa, FL)
I'm not sure what I was thinking getting this. I wanted something that would hold my drinks (like my son's old sturdy stroller) and provide more storage. It does not hold drinks, they all fall over if you put anything in the drink holder. And the pocket is nice for keys and other things, but if my son is not in the stroller it is back heavy and falls over. I wish I kept the box so I could return it.

 "works great" 2010-03-23

I really have nothing bad to say about this product. If your baby needs to be swaddled this is the way to go. It's so easy and the fabric is very soft and stretchy. By the way, if your baby "gets out of it" it just means you didn't swaddle tight enough. It is supposed to be very snug and there's no harm in it, only comfort.
